Virginia Saints Close Strong 2010 Season

GLEN ALLEN, VA — This Saturday, the Virginia Saints closed the 2010 Season by taking nine missionary athletes into Deep Meadow Correctional Center for the first time in several years. The field was a little muddy, but the fellowship, softball, and ministry was fantastic. Between games the team spoke with about 60 men. Jeff L. introduced the Saints, Joaquin M. gave his testimony, and Tom H. shared Gods plan of salvation. Twenty 20 men rededicated their lives to Christ, twelve said they were not yet ready, and six men gave their lives over to Chirst! The Saints won both games with scores of 26-8 and 12-4.
Unfortunately the field at James River was partially under water and we were unable to enter the facility. The Saints will be sure to include this facility in their 2011 schedule.
2010 was an amazing year! The Saints played in nine different prisons and ministered in a Women's Maternity Facility as well. The squad had the opportunity to share God's love and grace with an estimated 864 people, with 80 accepting Christ as their personal Savior. The team's record on the softball field was 13-3-1. The 2010 Mountain State Crusade sticks out as a highlight of the year – as well as one of the best weekends of several of the players' lives. The spiritual awakening was something not quickly forgotten and hopefully experienced many times more.
